Welcome to the Suppers Programs For Living/Raw

Living Suppers is a learn-by-doing support group for people who want to incorporate more raw food in their diet and lifestyle.

You don’t have to be a raw foodist to benefit from Living Suppers meetings. At these meetings, the entire meal is made of the freshest, healthiest, living foods: raw fruits and vegetables, seeds and nuts, sprouts, fresh herbs, spices, oils and flowers. And you may also find foods that have been prepared in a dehydrator and come out like flat breads or chips, still filled with nutrients because they have not been baked.

Living Suppers meetings are not designed for a specific population, unlike many Suppers meetings that cater to the needs of special groups like diabetics or people in recovery. Rather, the focus is on learning to prepare delicious, abundant and beautiful raw meals that promote vibrant health, regardless of your diagnosis.

As a newcomer to raw food preparation, you may find the methods and preparations unfamiliar; and the equipment is all different. Emphasis is placed on learning. Participants can expect to make raw soups, green and fruit smoothies, of course salads and slaws, raw versions of familiar favorites, like “spaghetti” using string-thin raw zucchini instead of pasta or patties made from ground nuts and herbs, and “cheeses” made from soaked cashews or macadamia nuts. Desserts are also on the menu, usually made of delectable combinations of fruit, grain, nuts, and spices.

Why Eat Living Foods?

It’s really quite simple. Raw foods help you feel alive because they’re alive. They change how you feel because they are packed with nutrients and contain the enzymes needed to digest them. How enzymes work is complicated in the details but the basic concept is very simple: every process in every cell in your body is mediated by enzymes. Enzymes make life happen. With cooked food, your body has to use up its own enzymes to digest the cooked food. Further, heat destroys vitamins while grilling and frying actually create carcinogens.
